About me

I am 31 years old, and just married my husband Michael on 23. August 2008.
I am Danish, but moved to US in March 08 where we now live in Rhode Island.

Why this blog?
I used to eat whatever came my way, or in college what ever I could afford. I used to love scented candles, scented everything, perfume and lots and lots of make up, creams, lotions and potions, ready meals, fluffy white bread and takeaways. I loved easy meals and shake a cake type recipes (if they qualify as a recipe). I will let you in on one embarrassing little secret; every time I went food shopping I used to treat myself with a Kinderschnitte (childrens chocolate bar) for years!.
I did think about the environment at the time, but I was a big time consumer even so.

One day it occurred to me that the reason I felt unhealthy, had constant stomach pains and looked like I had swallowed a beach ball could be because of what I ate. I started the Stone age diet where you can only eat veggies, red grape and bananas, fish, chicken and game – almost nothing else and all organic. In less than 2 months I lost 12 kilo (26 lb) my eyes were whiter and my skin and hair looked healthier.

However I was on this diet for more than a year, when I started introducing other foods, and slowly I gained a bit of the weight and swelled up again. So much so, that one day when I was particularly tired after a long days work, one woman looked at my belly and asked if I would like to sit down, and how far I was in my pregnancy! I suppose I had gone on for too long and my body must have been deprived of vitamins and minerals and I had still not discovered what it was that I am allergic to. And i dont think that you are supposed to live of certain foods only, I am sure thats not what mother nature intended.

Today I eat whole food whenever possible, organic when I can and no white pasta, bread, wheat, rice or sugar of any kind. We have no chemicals in the house, no oxy clean, no perfumed soaps and sprays or cleaners. We recycle as much as we currently can (you can always take it further) and treat the nature with the respect it deserves.

What you find on this blog, is my thoughts and findings in trying to keep my family chemical free and the hope of making an organic baby who will grow up organic too.

Everything that you find on this blog is my opinion supported with articles and research, I have studied pros and cons, but I urge you to make up your own mind as one always should. There is always two sides of the same coin. So dont hold anything against me.
